Twenty days later…Veinte días después…

It has been three weeks since our last entry was published. Team has been working trying out new kind of game styles. These prototypes are simple, dirty made and full of glitches… We tried to make a similar copy of “Hang-On” by SEGA and “Burger Time” by Data East, however, now I’m absolutely sure these kind of games are actually possible in Flash with effort (specially with Hang-On). JOYCOT has just been making Shoot ‘em Up games for the last two years, all our games were just pretty simple tests. We made several changes to the blog, we had finally updated our favicon and header… It was about time! A new Formspring account has been also created, you can ask us quick questions with their widget itself we recently added. Finally we decided to place the categories widget to the sidebar once again. This weekend we plan to replace the MikuClock with something original featured by Kazami and few cats. Who knows, our featured video may also change for something that is actually ours soon.

Today I’m going to show you the first actual boss we had ever designed for MoonGold. It’s a female octopus that resides inside a conch. We haven’t named her yet. You’re supposed to defeat her at the first level, second phase (underwater). We can’t provide much information about it since she has not been implanted in-game yet but we plan to add 5 skills to her. Just take a look to some of these while we work on it.

Han pasado tres semanas desde nuestra ultima entrada al blog. El equipo ha estado intentando hacer nuevos estilos de juego. Estos prototipos son simples, sucios y lleno de glitches… Hemos intentado hacer una copia similar a “Hang-On” de SEGA y “Burger Time” de Data East, aun así, ahora estoy completamente seguro de que este tipo de juegos son posible en Flash con un poco de esfuerzo (especialmente con Hang-On). JOYCOT ha desarrollado unicamente “Shoot ‘Em Up”s por los últimos dos años, todos estos juegos fueron solamente simples tests. Hemos echo unos cuantos cambios al blog, finalmente hemos actualizado nuestro favicon y el encabezado… ¡Ya era hora! Ademas, nos hemos creado una nueva cuenta en Formspring, puedes hacernos preguntas rápidas desde el propio widget que hemos añadido hace poco. Finalmente, decidimos nuevamente poner el widget de categorías. Este finde planeamos remplazar el MikuClock por algo un poco más original, un reloj de Kazami con algunos gatos. Quien sabe, el video tambien cambie por algo que es actualmente nuestro.

Hoy os mostrare el primer boss que diseñamos para MoonGold. Es un pulpo hembra que habita dentro de una caracola. No le hemos dado un nombre aun. Supuestamente tendrias que derrotarla en el primer nivel, segunda fase (bajo del mar). No podemos dar mucha informacion sobre ello ya que ella no ha sido implementada aun en el juego pero planeamos añadirle hasta 5 habilidades. Simplemente observa alguna de estas habilidades mientras trabajamos en ello.

I’m going to be sincere, we haven’t updated anything recently because we’re having some troubles to work with the game. Don’t worry about it, not a big deal! It’s taking us just some more days… College started, Cris has moved to another city, so let him finish his removal. He has promised to work a couple of hours weekly, so should not be a problem. In other hand, since MoonGold’s sprites are taking forever, I may also think about making another game on my free times, not much info to talk about it, small solo-project. Let me first try code something new, I had never been good doing platforms and gravity for some reason.

Today we’re sharing a full level background still in development as we said on Twitter. This is the very first zone from the first level, a beach. The background has three layers. Once you completed the first zone you dive underwater. “It stills needs islands and crazy stuff at the sand” says Cris. The length for this zone is approximately 3 minutes. We expect to update with good news sometime soon.

Voy a ser sincero, no hemos actualizado nada estos dias porque tenemos algunos problemas para trabajar en el juego. No os preocupeis, ¡no es gran cosa! Nos tomará sólo unos días más… La universidad comenzó, Cris se ha tenido que mudar de hogar, así que vamos a dejarle terminar con su mudanza. Ha prometido trabajar un par de horas a la semana, así que no debiera de ser un problema. Por otro lado, ya que los sprites de MoonGold se demoran mucho, pensaré sobre hacer otro juego en mis ratos libres, no hay mucho de que hablar, un pequeño solo-project. Pero primero dejadme probar un nuevo código… Por alguna razón nunca fui bueno haciendo plataformeros y su dichosa gravedad.

Hoy os traemos el fondo de un nivel completo (aún en desarrollo) como ya dijimos en Twitter. Ésta es la primerísima zona del primer nivel, una playa. El fondo consta de 3 capas. Una vez completada la primera fase, te sumerges bajo el agua. “Aún hacen falta islas y cosas relocas que estén en la arena” me dijo Cris.  La duración de esta zona es de aproximadamente 3 minutos. Esperamos actualizar pronto con noticias.

We had added statistics at the sidebar. I’m actually surprised that we actually have some visitors and reads, Spam is really affective! Out of jokes, is actually a great amount for the few days we had been around. We also have bad news, no one seems to reply at the WordPress Support forums so I can’t still make Comment Rating work, sorry. Anyway, I’m sharing three of the very first music versions from some MIDIs I composed myself for MoonGold. I’m not really good at making digital music or remixes, however, I’m still have my own style at composing original catchy tunes. Remixing them is actually 3R2′s work so are not in anyway any final versions. Making music is not easy at all, I had to remake several pieces already because I wasn’t inspired at all… We have almost every music track already. Lucky 3R2 is way better at composing nowadays.

Hemos añadido estadísticas en la barra lateral. Estoy bastante sorprendido de que actualmente tengamos lectores. ¡El Spam es realmente efectivo! Fuera bromas, es una estupenda cantidad para los días que llevamos. También tenemos una mala noticia, nadie parece responder en los foros de soporte de WordPress, así que aun no podemos hacer funcionar el Comment Rating, lo siento. Veamos… voy a compartir tres de las muy primeras versiones de unas MIDIs que compuse por mi cuenta para MoonGold. No soy realmente bueno haciendo música digital o remixes, aun así, tengo mi propio estilo de tonos pegajosos. Remixearlas son actualmente trabajo de 3R2 así que estas no son las versiones finales. Hacer musica no es facil, he tenido que crear varias piezas más de una vez. Suerte que 3R2 ha mejorado mucho componiendo sus propias canciones.
